The Mixed-Signal Generator

Her words say one thing, her actions say another — you're living in the gap between the two.

Bottom Line

When words and actions conflict, believe the actions — every time. Make a mental ledger of what she's actually done, not said. If the ledger is thin, her interest is thin. If she can't align them, walk.

What It Looks Like

  • She says one thing, does another
  • Verbally: “I really like you, I want to see where this goes”
  • Behaviorally: inconsistent, distant, non-committal
  • You feel confused because her words and actions tell different stories
  • When you bring it up, she has explanations (“I’m just busy”) but nothing changes
  • You’re living in the gap between what she says and what she does

What’s Happening

She either doesn’t know what she wants (and her behavior is the truth her words are hiding) or she’s keeping you in a comfortable holding pattern — enough warmth to keep you around, enough distance to avoid commitment.

What This Means

Ignore the words. Track the actions. Words cost nothing and feel good to say. Actions cost effort and reveal true priorities. Someone whose words and actions don’t align is either lying to you or lying to herself — and neither is your job to untangle.

  • Stop listening to what she says. Pay attention exclusively to what she does.
  • Make a simple ledger in your head: what has she actually DONE that demonstrates interest? Not said — done.
  • If the ledger is thin — her interest is thin.
  • Direct approach: “I’ve noticed your words and actions aren’t matching up. You say you’re interested, but your behavior suggests otherwise. What’s going on?”
  • If she gets defensive, offers more words, or blames you — walk. The mismatch will continue.
  • If she acknowledges the gap and her behavior changes — she was unaware and self-correcting. Rare, but possible.

Discrimination

Mixed-signal generator vs. hot-cold cycle? The hot-cold cycle is about unpredictable engagement — she’s hot, then cold, then hot. The mixed-signal generator is about contradiction — she’s verbally warm but behaviorally cold at the same time. The cycle alternates. The generator contradicts.
